Xiaomi to roll out Android Nougat based MIUI 9 before August 16

Xiaomi to roll out MIUI 9 before August 16

soon after announcing the list of eligible phones for Android Nougat update, Xiaomi has announced that the company will officially start rolling out MIUI 9 before August 16. "When is MIUI 9 coming, is one of the most commonly asked questions across sub-forums on MIUI Forum. Everyone is excited and looking forward to the next major update," the company writes on its official forum .
At the same time, it has urged fans and enthusiasts to stay clear of the string of fake information and news about MIUI that is going around on the Internet. "Please stay tuned and we'll update you guys if there's an exact date for the launch."
Not much is known about what MIUI 9 will be bringing to the table. Rumour has it that it would bring split screen multitasking and picture-in-picture mode features, although Xiaomi is yet to formally make an announcement regarding the same.

Xiaomi has meanwhile announced a list of phones that qualify to get the Android 7.0 update. There are 14 Xiaomi phones in all that make the cut. While 10 of them will get Android 7.0, only four will be eligible for an Android 7.1 update in the days to come. Interestingly, the Redmi Note 4 is nowhere to be seen which has quite obviously led to widespread speculation over the Internet, even more so, because the phone in question is already on Android 7.0 Nougat Preview.
Even though its phones may not be updated to a latest version of Android, Xiaomi ensures that it pushes out at least some of its features, through a MIUI update. For now, we can confirm that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 India version - the same phone that is currently on Android 7.0 Nougat Preview - will get Android Nougat (based MIUI) soon. The same cannot be said about the Redmi Note 4 China version.
Xiaomi phones that will be updated to Android 7.0:
Mi Max, Mi 5, Mi 5S, Mi 5S Plus, Mi 4C, Mi 4S, Mi Note, Mi Note 2, Mi Mix, Mi Note 4X
Xiaomi phones that will be updated to Android 7.1:
Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Mi 5C and Redmi 4X
